Countdown To UltimateDefrag Version 3

If there was a stronger word than “ultimate”,
we’d use that in the name of the next version of our defragmentation
software but “ultimate” is about as strong as it gets and UltimateDefrag
Version 3 will be, without a doubt, the “ultimate” defragmentation
software tool.
We do apologize for the
delay of the release of version 3 which was originally announced and
scheduled to be in mid November 2009. A few problems occurred which
significantly delayed the release. The biggest contributor was the loss of
our lead programmer who developed and was working on updates to the boot
time defragmentation module including 64 bit boot time defragmentation,
essential for defragmentation of 64 bit O/S system files.
We had to begin work
again almost from square one to rebuild this highly specialized code as
well as create 64 bit code for 64 bit O/S which was a whole new challenge
in itself considering the additional security in 64 bit versions of
Windows XP, Vista and 7.
We’re pleased to say
that we have almost completed all the development and we are now just
putting the finishing touches to the program to make it ready for release.
We estimate it to be on 2 August.
We assure you that the
wait will be more than worth it.
All customers who
purchased UltimateDefrag 2008 after September 1st who were
promised a free upgrade will still get that upgrade and all customers who
purchase UltimateDefrag 2008 before the release of UltimateDefrag Version
3 will also receive a free upgrade to version 3.
Let’s take a look at
some of the features you’ll get to enjoy with the new UltimateDefrag
Version 3. These features put it leaps and bounds ahead of any other
defrag software tool available in the world today:
- Full compatibility
with all 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7
including fully customizable boot time defragmentation on all these
operating systems.
- True File Use
database. UltimateDefrag Version 3 will keep track of all your file
usage in its own database and it will intelligently keep track of file
use, how often a file becomes fragmented and it then uses moving
averages of such data to intelligently place files for optimum
performance on your hard drive.
- New FragProtect
file placement borrowed from our DefragExpress title that places files
to ensure the lowest rate of refragmentation possible.
- “Very Fast
Placement” option to make your defrags even faster.
- Defrag simulation
uses a virtual drive technology that enables you to simulate a defrag so
you can see file placement on screen in accelerated mode while not
actually making changes to your hard drive. Some users like to setup
complex defrag routines and with the simulation feature, you can see
what your file system will look like when it is complete.
- A lot more
information on the screen but without clutter. You will see more
information about file movement, fragment count, time lapsed, read/write
indicators and a whole lot more, while the drive is being defragged.
- Ability to defrag
external USB drives including flash drives.
- Ability to sort
high performance and archive files by a variety of methods.
- Ability to apply
FragProtect to High Performance files as well as the ability to only
process High Performance file layout and then stop when having completed
this phase.
- New user interface
with options for floating and docked windows enabling you to make use of
extra screen real estate if you are in a multiple monitor environment.
- Ability to defrag
all files in a specific directory with just one click.
- Vastly improved
defrag time estimates.
- Here’s one you’ll
really love! The ability to select a file or folder from the Cluster
Viewer or File Highlighter and then DRAG it to wherever on the disk
display you want that file or directory to go. That’s right, you can
drag and drop files onto wherever you want them to be placed on your
drive. An example of when you might use this feature is if you have a
number of large Outlook PST files that you want to be placed outside of
the normal cluster of high performance files but still wish to have
pretty high performance from, you can place the files/directories in the
free space just inside the HP zone of files. We think this is a very
cool feature and hope you do too.
These are just some of
the vast number of changes, new features and improvements on what was
already the world’s most powerful defrag software tool. We believe that
version 3 has advanced it another 2 generations in terms of the power and
flexibility for file placement optimization.
As the release
approaches, if you don’t mind, we’ll send you links to some videos and
screenshots of UltimateDefrag Version 3 in action and we’ll do our best to
meet the mid June deadline. Please bear with us if it slips a little as we
are only a two man team and development of such a program normally takes
large teams of highly talented people.

purchased before 1 September 2009 will be entitled to a 50% upgrade
discount. The full priced version will be $39.95 so the upgrade will be
under $20.
Purchasers of
UltimateDefrag 2008 after 1 September 2009 and before the release date of
Version 3 will be entitled to a FREE upgrade to Version 3. If you

DefragExpress 1.0.0.49 Update Released

We've just released a free incremental update to DefragExpress which is
now Version 1.49. As well as correcting some very minor display bugs,
we've included the ability to defragment flash drives and other removable
media.
