Please read the captions for these
screenshots to see how and why you need to be using UltimateDefrag to
defrag
and optimize your hard drive with strategic file placement. The power is
in its options!

Now
you can really see the true picture! Defrag In Progress - UltimateDefrag
gives you the first true DISK
metaphor in a defragger. Plus the GUI is so easy to use since all the
options for the program except one are
accessed from this main screen!

Selecting files for high performance. This routine has Windows and
Documents and Settings selected first
followed by specific programs this user wants to launch and operate
fastest. They can be reordered just by
dragging and dropping. Even individual files can be selected!

On the left there are 6 powerful Defrag Methods - Above shows you the
multiple Recency defrag options at
your disposal. There's even specific options for making an almost FULL
hard drive perform like there's
hardly any data on it!

When
you want to see which files are in each cluster block - just click on the
block on the disk and the cluster
analysis list is populated. Click on the file for further information
including degree of fragmentation and
you can even defrag the file there and then.

Defragging Complete! This disk is nicely defragged and optimized. The file
clutter has been reorganized to old
data and files in the inner tracks and most used files and programs on the
outer tracks. See the big illustration
below for further information.

Volume information shows
you a variety of data including fragmented files and the number of
fragments each file has.

Finally...a way to get all
of those unused Windows installation updates out of the way! Add them to
the
archive list and they are moved to the inner tracks and the rest of your
Windows installation
is more tightly compacted!
The Results Of An UltimateDefrag Defrag
and Optimization
The drive below shows the final result of an UltimateDefrag defrag. The
archive data is moved to the slower inner tracks and neatly compacted. All
of the high performance data and files not selected for archive are moved
to the outer tracks. Notice the difference in how much your hard drive
read/write heads now have to move as shown by the track-to-track seek
compared to the Full Stroke Seek dimension arrows. Just inside the high
performance data is all the free space on this drive. Newly written files
are written to the high performing empty tracks towards the outer part of
this drive!
Directories are placed right
at the beginning of the used MFT space and, since they're adjacent to most
"used" data, file access is lightning fast.
This hard drive hums!
